Peaches are a hairy fruit native to northwest China. With a large seed, they belong to the stone fruit family. Depending on whether the flesh adheres to the inner seed or detaches easily, the peach can be freestone or clingstone.
Chilean peaches are available from November to March. They have a delicate aroma and juicy, yellowish flesh. Chilean peaches are a refreshing addition to smoothies and salads, and pair well with poultry and seafood dishes.
