Overview
Beloved by the Incas, lucuma is an exotic fruit that looks a bit like a nashi pear crossed with a mango or avocado. Its maple-like flavor makes it a naturally sweet ingredient for smoothies, baked goods and even ice cream. A popular Chilean dessert called meringue with lucuma sauce highlights the fruit's unique flavor. In Chile, lucuma is harvested from June to November.
